PALILA / WOULD
This album was created during a rather quiet and withdrawn period.
I spent a lot of time at home writing and recording music and not much else. It wasn’t a time of big plans or big emotions — more a time of trying to stay grounded and just keep going. Making music was something I could hold on to during that period, and sometimes that’s enough.
During that time I learned that it’s okay to take a step back for a few weeks or months. You don’t have to run outside every time the sun comes out and be beaming with joy. Funnily enough, I apparently thought exactly that a few years earlier while recording Be Okay To Not Be Okay. Oh well.
It doesn’t always have to be “higher, faster, further.” Sometimes “deeper, slower, closer” is more interesting. This album wasn’t really about catchy melodies — it was more about mood and atmosphere. Something you can just sit with for a while.
