PALILA / WOULD
Some of the songs on this album had been around for quite a long time.
I had always wanted to make a quieter, more acoustic and slightly more
Americana-influenced record at some point, but that direction didn’t
really fit Palila very well.
Palila was always more of an indie rock band, and while acoustic guitars and quieter songs appeared here and there, a full record in that direction never really made sense for the band. So these songs slowly collected over the years and eventually became a Would album.
Looking back, this album probably also opened the door for many of the things that came later with Would. It showed me that the project could move in very different directions without having to fit into one specific style.
In that sense Get Away is probably the album I had planned for quite a long time without really knowing that I was planning it.
