PALILA / WOULD
Why Would?
With Palila we were often busy rehearsing, recording and playing shows, and there was not always time to start even more new songs. So more and more demos just stayed unfinished. At some point I talked to Christoph and Sascha and said that I would like to record and release some of these songs on my own, just to finally get them out of the drawer. They were totally fine with that. Out of this “would” the name WOULD eventually appeared.
Ironically, some of the songs on this EP were demos I had already shown to Christoph back in 2019 and that we had originally planned to record with Palila. But somehow there were always newer songs and we never got around to them, so they ended up here instead.
The idea behind Would was: record songs quickly, sometimes overthink things, sometimes don’t — but most importantly finish songs instead of leaving them as demos forever. In a way, it’s actually the same idea that got Christoph and me started Palila in the first place.
